Electrical and electronic engineering is revolutionizing mechanical and aerospace engineering with the introduction of smart electronics, modern control systems, electrical energy management and advanced communications. Energy is the life-blood for continual progress of human civilization. Energy processing equipment or power electronic equipment is a key element in the conversion of billions of kilowatts of electrical energy especially in the field of adjustable speed drives and renewable energy systems, contributing to remarkable energy saving and environmental pollution control in a broader perspective.
Power electronics technology has seen rapid progress in the past five decades, including power semi conductor devices, converters, drives, green surface and aerospace transport systems and renewable energy systems.
Power electronics is interdisciplinary in nature and used in a wide variety of industries from computers to chemical plants to rolling mills.
